It works
By Squirrel Dad
I wasn't sure this product would work on my 17 inch Asus ROG. The asus has some aggressive exhaust ports on the back I figured the cooling was already optimized. This mat made a huge difference and kept the rather hot laptop off of my laptop. Its not uncomfortable to use this while laying on the couch.
I dont like how short the cord is for the cooler and it doesn't seem like as high a quality product as the price would suggest. But it definitely does the job.

Cheap insurance for high end hardware!!
By M Nelson
I've owned this unit for a year now, and it still unfailingly provides the same incredible cooling it did when new! It easily fits my Sager NP8180 18.4" absolute BEAST of a laptop(sadly they stopped producing these). We're talking a quad core i7, dual GTX560 GPU, 12GB ram, 500gb hybrid HDD, blu-ray burner monster, so you know it can stir up some heat.
Fortunately the larger Sager/Clevo units are renowned for their cooling systems, but I still wanted to chill down the whole bottom of the laptop, thereby increasing the convection cooling to the internals not directly fan cooled. This cooler delivers it in spades, without having to ever crank the speed past 50% I might add!
Even in the summer after endless gaming sessions, the highest I've ever seen the temps go are 50-60 deg.C on the CPU, and 60-75 deg.C on both GPU's, the entire bottom of the lappy being cool to the touch, and none of the units three fans ever going above an idle. That my friends is downright chilly for a high end gaming rig and what I call getting the job done.
For hard core gamers or people doing heavy video encoding ,etc. on expensive hardware, and want to augment their cooling systems with something that WORKS, it's a no-brainer.
Is it huge? Sure, but that also makes it a stable base for even large laptops like mine, even on my lap.
Can it be loud? Yes, but there truly is no need to crank it full bore.
Is it a little spendy? You bet, but the title of the review says it all. Besides, I've spent half as much on other coolers, and not had them last even half as long, and I'm anal-retentive about caring for my stuff.
Some people complain about laptop coolers not pushing much air. I think they confuse PSI with volume. What you want with a cooler is copious CFM to cool down your laptops casing, and provide a steady source of cooler air to the fan intakes if possible. This unit moves HUGE volumes.(If it's in my lap, even in the summer and wearing pants, my thighs get chilled!) PSI means nothing in this application. Even if you managed to get your cooler to blow directly into the laptops fan intake, you're never going to force more air into it than the maximum CFM the fan is designed to move.
Will it work with EVERY laptop? Of course not. For the majority of rigs out there that draw cooling air from the bottom of the chassis, this should work very well.
Buy it, you won't be disappointed in it's performance. I sure haven't, and I'm what people call particular!
